Preserving Flight: Inside Wilson Construction’s Precision Move of the Historic Philippine Mars

Wilson Construction is an electrical contractor that was entrusted with a critical role in transporting the historic Philippine Mars, one of the largest World War II transport aircraft ever built, from Lake Pleasant to its permanent home at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona. I created a documentary-style film that followed their work throughout the project, showcasing the planning, precision, and teamwork required to make the move possible. As the aircraft traveled across Arizona, Wilson Construction safely raised and adjusted overhead guy wires and utility lines to provide enough clearance for the massive disassembled plane to pass beneath them. The finished film tells the story of the people behind the scenes whose expertise helped preserve a remarkable piece of aviation history.
